After seeing the horror of war in Sarajevo, Lt. Hobbes was ready to settle down with his fiance, Sophie. However, the military had one last assignment, test out the virtual reality program "Harsh Realm." His orders were to kill the highest scoring player, Omar Santiago. Then, lured inside the program against his will, Hobbes learns that it is not a game and people can really die in "Harsh Realm." He is caught in a world that Santiago rules with an ironfist and a deadly army and with only a few allies, but there are those who believe he is the savior, who has come to free the virtual characters from the rule of Santiago.

The name "Thomas Hobbes" was that of a philospher of the mind and writer of the "Leviathan."
Another soldier who was sent into "Harsh Realm" to eradicate Santiago, but has since given up and adapted to the the life of a rogue in "Harsh Realm." He has formed an uneasy alliance with Hobbes, mainly because he knows he might be the savior of "Harsh Realm." However, he has kept this secret from Hobbes as well as the secret of Santiago's "Final Solution." He apparently had an accident in the real world that left him scarred, so he is left with no will to leave "Harsh Realm." He also used to work for Santiago and had a relationship with the mysterious Inga Fossa.
D.B. Sweeney has appeared in "Fire in the Sky" and "Spawn," and the series "Strange Luck" and "C:16."
The name of Mike Pinnochio was that of a classmate Chris Carter had.
Sgt. Major Santiago hacked the whole program of "Harsh Realm" and has since taken it over. The military does not know how or where he entered the system, thus they have been sending assassins to take him out, however all attempts have been unsuccesful so far. As the evil dictator of "Harsh Realm," Santiago says the words of a stong ruler, but at heart is a egomaniacal coward. It has become apparent that he has plans for the real world and may be using "Harsh Realm" for practice.
Terry O'Quinn has appeared in "Ghosts of Mississippi" and "The X-Files" movie and an episode of the television show. He also had a recurring role as Peter Watts on the series "Millennium."
Sophie is a beautiful, intelligent, and strong woman who was Hobbes fiance, until he reportedly died in a mission. Sophie is investigating into her fiance's disapperance, because of a tip from Inga Fossa. She is also pregnant with Hobbes's child.
Samantha Mathis has appeared in "Broken Arrow," "How to Make an American Quilt," and "The American President."
Sophie's last name Green is that of the man character in the comic book "Harsh Realm." Hobbes and Sophie's dog, Dexter, is also named after the character.
Inga is a shadowy double-agent of the military and Santiago who has the ability to pass from the real world into "Harsh Realm" at will.
Sarah-Jane Redmond has appeared in "Disturbing Behavior," the series "Strange World," and as a recurring villian on the series "Millennium."
Florence is a tall, strong, mute woman in "Harsh Realm," who has the power to heal wounds and has joined Hobbes and Pinnochio in their quest to destroy Santiago.
Hayward has appeared in the series "Millennium" and "Highlander."
Lt. Waters was Hobbes friend, but has since been placed in "Harsh Realm" and has joined Santiago as his right-hand man. He took the virtual Sophie as his wife in "Harsh Realm," but killed her when Hobbes tried to escape Santiago with her. Because of this, Hobbes will never stop his quest to kill Santiago and Waters. Waters has also united with Inga Fossa behind Santiago's back.
Max Martini has appeared in "Saving Private Ryan" and "Contact."
